TWAA Basketball
TWAA sponsors two teams in
the Nashville area, the Music City Lighting and Nashville Wheelcats,
both teams are members of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association.
TWAA also helps supports teams in Memphis, Jackson and Chattanooga.
The first National Championship in Wheelchair basketball
came in 1968 as the Nashville Wheelcats. The Music City
Wheelers has won the National Championship in 1978 and
Music City Lighting won in 1989. Music City has been a
regular at the final four for many years.
The Jackson Generals won the division III championship in
2001
The Nashville teams have several players that have been
inducted in to the Hall of Fame.

Wheelchair Basketball has 3 divisons with Division I playing with
NBA rules and
Divisions II & III playing with college rules. The 2 major
rules differences: 4 seconds
in the lane and you must dribble 1 time for
every 2 times you push the chair.
The teams practices every Wednesday night at McMurry Jr High School from 7 PM to 9:30 PM during basketball season.
